The Location
Finding the right location for a funeral wake is critical and we are ideally situated in Setchey.
The Warehouse Taproom Bar and Restaurant is a prime central location for providing a funeral wake. You can find us just four miles south of King’s Lynn and seven miles further south is Downham Market. To the west of us, is Swaffham and over to the east is Wisbech.
A converging network of key routes (A148, A17, A47and A10) offers a central wake venue for families and friends to meet, remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones. The Warehouse Taproom Bar and Restaurant also provides adequate free parking. We are also well served by a network of bus routes and the bus stop is just at the end of our road!
The Wake
Every funeral wake is unique, just as every person is unique. We can work with you to ensure that the wake you are planning will reflect the loved one you are saying goodbye to. There are many different ways to organise a wake; there is no wrong or right way.
We have helped to arrange a wide variety of wakes at The Warehouse Taproom Bar and Restaurant and we have experienced a number of different approaches to wake events. Many people wish to celebrate their loved one’s life including their favourite music and picture slideshows. We can help you to reflect your loved one’s personality in a truly unique and sensitive way. If you would like to decorate the venue with flowers or photographs, we can help you with that too.
The Personal Touch
We have the facilities to accommodate slideshows and can play requested music if supplied with a CD or MP3 playlist. We can also organise a special table to display photo albums, light candles, or set up memory jars, books, or ‘memory trees’.
These provide opportunities for guests to write down their favourite memories of the person who has passed and leave them for other people to read during the wake, and for the organisers to take home with them. You can talk to our venue staff to organise setting this up. These are just a few ideas that you could use, but if you have something specific in mind that is not mentioned here, we are always open to discussing alternative suggestions that you may have.
The Venue
A sleek, modern glass entrance leads you to our custom built bar, with industrial design and rustic touches. The open layout is warm and inviting, with a combination of wooden furniture and industrial inspired lighting and décor, which is softened by our comfortable seating and warm fabric palette.
Within the main part of the venue, we have two areas for you to choose from which allow you to be semi-private. Situated at the back right-hand side of the bar, this area offers some good views of our Taproom. It is suitable for groups of 25-35 people. This is the perfect spot for a wake event that is intimate and mainly drinks based. Free to book, please send us an email to reserve.
The Function Room
For larger funeral wake events and for those seeking an even more private space, look no further than our purpose built function room, which is available for exclusive hire.
This room has been perfectly designed for private bookings: ranging from a formal sit down meal or a buffet to hog-roast, we can cater for it all. There is plenty of space to set up tables for memory books or photo albums, as well as tables and chairs for your guests to sit and eat. All furnishings are portable and can be shaped to meet your requirements.
